Yonah Mountain

Mount Yonah lies just off State Route 75, between Cleveland and Helen, Georgia. From Cleveland, follow S.R 75 north toward Helen for 3.9 miles. At this point, the prominent Main Face should be visible on the right. Look for a gravel road just past Yonah Campground on the right. Turn onto this road and then park immediately on the left at a parking area. The road is a private road and is closed to vehicle traffic. Hike the road for 2.7 miles to a large clearing (this is the former parking area). Access information is given from this point in each area description.

Note: In 1997, the Trust For Public Land, The Access Fund and the Southeastern Climber’s Coalition came together and purchased a plot of land on the southwest side of the mountain, off of Chambers Road. The Forest Service plans to build a new access road, parking lot and trail system for use by the public and the Army, but construction had not begun as of press time. There should be a kiosk or sign in place at the aforementioned current parking lot, when the new access is completed.
