Outdoor Climbing

Tallulah Gorge

Tallulah Gorge is located off of U.S. 441, just south of Clayton, Georgia. From Atlanta, take I-85 North, to I-985, which turns into U.S 441 and leads straight to the community of Tallulah Falls, at the head of the Gorge. After crossing over the bridge/dam, look for signs for the Tallulah Gorge State Park Interpretive Center, on the right. Turn right, and follow a winding road to the Interpretive Center. Once there, it will be necessary to get a parking permit and fill out a mandatory climbing registration form.

The climber trail leaves from the sloping back lawn behind the Center, crosses an old footpath, and continues steeply downhill, to an exposed and tricky chimney/downclimb. Note: Children, dogs, and non-climbers should not attempt this section. Roping up is advised. Continue along the trail and cross a small creek to reach the base of the Main Wall.
