Outdoor Climbing

Starr Mountain

From Atlanta, follow I-75 North to Highway 411 East (exit 126). Continue on 411 through Chatsworth, Georgia, over the Ocoee River, and through Benton, Tennessee. A few miles past Benton, cross the Hiwassee River. Proceed approximately .7 miles and turn right, following signs for the Gee Creek Wilderness Area. Continue for 2.3 miles to an inobvious pulloff on the left, near a large culvert pipe, next to the railroad tracks. From the car, climb the embankment up onto the tracks and look for a trail heading uphill on the other side. Follow this trail up beside a waterfall/stream bed. Bear right, following a well-worn trail to the cliff.

From Knoxville or Chattanooga, follow I-75 North toward Cleveland, Tennessee. Exit onto Highway 64 East, and follow it for roughly 15 miles to Highway 411 North. Take Highway 411 North through Benton and follow the same directions as above.
