Outdoor Climbing

Griffin Falls

Griffin Falls lies just west of I-59, near Collinsville, Alabama. From Birmingham or Chattanooga, take I-59 to the Collinsville exit. Go west on Highway 68 a few miles, and the cliffs should be visible on the mountainside directly ahead. At the bottom of the hill, cross a bridge and take an immediate left onto a gravel road. Follow this for about 400 yards, across a small wooden bridge, to a littered pulloff on the right. The trail leads uphill to the cliff base. Walk around right, behind the waterfall, to the first established routes.

From Atlanta, take I-75 North to exit #125. Follow signs for Highways 20/411 towards Rome, Georgia. At Rome, stay on 411, as it bears left. In a few miles, look for a right hand turn at a gas station, following signs for Cave Spring, Georgia. (You are still on Hwy.411) Follow 411 to Centre, Alabama, and then on to Leesburg, Alabama. At Leesburg, turn right on Highway 68 West, and continue roughly eight miles to the town of Collinsville. Pass through Collinsville on Highway 68 West. Pass under I-59 and continue a few miles. The cliffs should be visible on the mountainside directly ahead. At the bottom of the hill, cross a bridge and take an immediate left onto a gravel road. Follow this for about 400 yards, across a small wooden bridge, to a littered pulloff on the right.
